Unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed Hon Farouq Hassan, a former Councillor of Sabon Gida Ward in Zamfara State.
Reports say that the criminals swooped in on him shortly after he arrived his residence on Wednesday night.
The gunmen stormed his home in two vehicles with sophisticated weapons. They had trailed the 38-year-old politician until he arrived home.
Describing the incident, a family source said that the bandits ordered the councillor to turn his back and then shot him twice on the head.
No member of his family was harassed or abducted during the attack, the source revealed.
This attack comes less than 24 hours after gunmen stormed the home of another Councillor, Babangida Damba. They shot him and abducted his wife and his 8-month-old baby.
