Gunmen have stormed Piri community in the Kwali Area Council of Abuja, abducting 8 residents while a housewife identified as Salamtu was allegedly shot dead.
A resident, Yakubu Saidu said the kidnappers first invaded 2 houses and whisked away 2 persons amid sporadic gunshots.
The incident is said to have happened in the nights of Tuesday and Wednesday.
Saidu said that the kidnappers came in search of a car dealer identified as Sadauna but since they could not find him, they took away 2 of his brothers.
They were said to have returned to the community on Wednesday when they killed Salamatu.
The deceased, who was the senior wife of Yusuf Maigunwa, a yam seller in Kwali, tried to escape through the back door when she was shot dead.
Saidu added that, “The husband of the deceased woman was at home when the kidnappers came, but they could not locate where he was hiding as they whisked away his second wife and 2 others inside the house.
“Some gangs of the kidnappers, who positioned themselves at strategic places within the community, invaded 2 houses and whisked away 3 residents.
“The late woman has been buried in accordance with Islamic rites,” he said.
