There was tension on Friday morning at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State after gunmen suspected to be kidnappers invaded the institution and whisked away at least 3 people at Abaa, a community near the higher institution.
The assailants attacked the community located in the Surulere Local Government Area of Oyo late Thursday night, operated till early Friday morning before abducting the victims.
The victims are said to include a hotelier, his worker and another unidentified person.
A resident of the community who confirmed the incident to The PUNCH on conditions of anonymity said they suspect the gunmen to be Fulani bandits.
According to him, when the the community head, Chief John Adepoju learnt about the situation immediately sent messages to residents to remain vigilant and stay indoors after the incident.
The PUNCH quotes a source as saying, “The owner of the hotel travelled and returned yesterday and the incident happened not long after his return.
“The kidnappers should be about 10 from what those who were present at the scene told us and they fired several shots to scare people away and whisked their victims away.
“This problem which we were hearing of from afar has come to this area and it is unfortunate that it has become a frequent occurrence here now.”
