Half naked Ogoni women stormed the streets of Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State to protest the continued detention of the one of their sons.
Dr Bariledum Azoroh, manager of Prodest Hotel was arrested and detained on the orders of the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike. His hotel was also demolished after being accused of operating in contravention of Governor Wike’s lockdown orders.
In addition, Azoroh was quarantined for 14 days and fined N50,000 after he was also said to have tested positive to #COVID19
His mother, Beewo, accompanied by other Ogoni women protest half naked, what they describe as “victimisation and intimidation” of their son. They threaten to go stack naked if Wike refuses to release Azoroh within the next few days.
Speaking on behalf of the women, one of the protesters insists that “there is no sickness in our son’s body. That is the truth. We beg you in God’s name to release him. Our son does not have covid19 sickness.”
On her part, Azoroh’s mother, Madam Beewo said that, “my son is innocent; since I was born, I have never seen such intimidation and victimisation. Please Governor Wike, release my son.
“As a mother, I have been traumatised and took ill since the arrest of my son. Mr Governor, I believe you have a mother and brothers. How will you feel if someone treats them the way you are treating my son ?
