Hoodlums are currently on the rampage in Lagos Island. According to Benjamin Hundeyin, the state Police Spokesperson, the market association had instructed its members not to open for business on Sunday and Monday.
He claimed that the hoodlums were on the streets only to enforce the order as Igbo traders defied the instruction.
The twitter community however, tackled the police PRO insisting he is partisan by singling out only the Igbos when many other tribes conduct businesses in the market.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin said: This is fake news. The market association agreed that shops would remain closed yesterday and today. Igbo traders this morning decided to renege on the agreement and open shops. Some hoodlums took it upon themselves to enforce compliance. The police was alerted.
“The police arrived promptly. The hoodlums fled upon sighting police patrol vans. Not one shop was vandalized. Not one person was robbed. Not one person was injured. Normalcy was swiftly returned and officers remain on ground. Go and verify! SHUN FAKE NEWS!“
