Nigeria’s Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo on Monday afternoon, arrived Owo, Ondo State to commiserate with victims of the St Francis Catholic Church attack by gunmen.
Not less that 40 people were killed on Sunday morning during the invasion when bandits stormed the community and began shooting residents who were observing their usual Sunday service.
Osinbajo, in a statement soon after the attack, expressed sadness over the gruesome invasion.
The All Progressives Congress, APC presidential aspirant in the statement via his Twitter page said that despite the attack, Nigerians are united in grief and determined to defeat the cowards who unleash terror on defenceless people.
He offered prayers for the people of Owo and the families of the deceased.
In his words, “I am saddened by the senseless massacre of innocent people in Owo.
“My deepest condolences go to the families whose hearts are broken and are grasping for answers.
“We are united in grief and a resolve to defeat the cowards who unleash terror on defenceless people.”
Osinbajo on Monday afternoon, visited Ondo to express his sympathy to the State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu and as well condole with families of those who lost their lives.
He also visited survivors who are still receiving treatment at the state Federal Medical Center.
Confirming Osinbajo’s presence in Owo on Monday, his Technical Assistant on New Media, Philip Obin wrote on Twitter: “VP Osinbajo arrives scene of yesterday’s attack in Owo.”
According to 𝕻𝖍𝖎𝖑𝖎𝖕 𝕺𝖇𝖎𝖓 @PhilipObin, “VP Osinbajo speaks from scene of Church attack that happened yesterday in Owo Ondo State, describes tragedy as horrible, unspeakable.“
In another post, he wrote: “VP Osinbajo speaks from scene of Church attack that happened yesterday in Owo Ondo State, describes tragedy as horrible, unspeakable.”
