Hisbah has finally reacted to Buhari’s daughter-in-law’s transparent bridal shower dress that has generated massive controversy both within and outside the Muslim faith.
In view of the various reactions, the Hisbah Commission for the Promotion of Islamic Teachings in Kano State has finally reacted to the dress worn by the bride-to-be, Zahra Nasir Bayero to her bridal shower.
Zahra who is the duaghter of the Emir of Bichi and a niece to the Emir of Kano is engaged to Yusuf Buhari, son of President Muhammadu Buhari.
During her bridal shower, she wore a body-hugging flowing white dress that was transparent on the shoulder and upper part of her body.
Members of the public criticised the dress and called out the Hisbah law enforcement for apparently keeping silent about it.
One account complained that the organisation does not hesitate to “punish” poor Muslims if they wear the same kind of see-through dress.
Some Nigerians say that Hisbah is biased in for of the children of rich Muslims.
In his response, the Hisbah Commander, Sheikh Harun Ibn Sina told BBC that the Sultan’s daughter is not above the law and should lead by example if she wants to be blessed in her marriage.
He also criticised those reposting the photos and videos of the president’s daughter-in-law in the dress and said it is a crime to such publish images.
Hisbah is an Islamic doctrine referring to upholding community morals and “by extension, to the maintenance of public law and order and supervising market transactions”.
