Pastor Tunde Bakare, Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, was received with fanfare by his supporters who gathered at the airport to receive him after his participation in Wednesday’s All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primaries.
A video that emerged on social media shows the supporters in a happy mood as they danced and sang to a popular song in Yoruba language which is roughly translated to mean “it is still possible because I believe.”
Pastor Bakare who contested the APC 2023 presidential ticket when he was invited to the podium to speak at the national convention of the party on Tuesday night about his presidential ambition, said he is not stepping down for anybody.
He reiterated his conviction that he is only stepping up as the 16th president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Bakare bragged about being the best candidate to lead Nigeria forward, stating that most of the presidential aspirants are not deserving of leadership.
Unfortunately, when the final results were announced, Pastor Bakare got zero votes from the delegates.
Immediately after the results were announced, many people took to the social media to mock the clergyman who in response via a social media post on Wednesday said he was happy because he was different while saying those who were desirous of effecting a change must be different.
He stated that despite losing the primary election, he passed the test of integrity.
He wrote, “I am happy I passed the test of character by not paying any delegate.
“I passed the test of courage by speaking the truth in the midst of wolves and the test of conviction by standing true to my beliefs. Those who will make a difference must be different.”
The cleric subsequently returned to the pulpit as Nigerians await his next move.
