Bulama Bukarti, a security expert, has reacted to the viral photos of terrorist kingpin, Turji Bello, in Mobile Police (Mopol).
In the photos that have gone viral on social media, the terrorists’ leader and his men were seen wearing military and Mopol uniforms.
According to reports, the military launched an airstrike on Turji’s hideout in Zamfara State a few days ago. Several terrorists were killed during the attack, while Turji escaped from the scene.
According to a local source who spoke with BBC Hausa, Turji left the scene 30 minutes before the airstrike.
Turji has been terrorising Zamfara State for a while. The state government recently granted him an amnesty.
The state deputy governor said Turji is also helping the government to track down other terrorists who refused to repent.
In reaction to the development, Bulama Bukarti said the attack on Turji’s hideout showed the inconsistency in our strategy in the fight against insurgency.
