I met Michael at a wedding in Port Harcourt. He was gentle, polite, and said all the right things. When I asked about his family, he sighed deeply and said:
“I lost both parents in an accident. I don’t talk about it much.”

That melted my heart. I cooked for him, prayed with him, even helped him start a small logistics business.
We dated for 2 years. No red flags — just deep love… or so I thought.
Then one day, my friend sent me a wedding IV. I screamed.
It was Michael’s face — in a groom’s outfit.
I thought it was a joke until I saw the bride:
A lawyer, based in the UK. Rich family.
But that wasn’t the worst part.
Michael’s mother gave a speech at the wedding.
She wasn’t dead.
She was alive.
She was a sitting senator!
He said he had no one… until I saw his family on live TV at his wedding.
Turns out, I was just the secret, the placeholder, the fool.
And when I confronted him after the wedding, he looked me in the eye and said:
“You were good to me, but she’s the one my family chose.”
