The Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ben Ugweh has exposed the modus operandi of ‘one-chance’ armed robbers in the territory.
Speaking during an interview with Channels TV, he called for caution and vigilance when boarding commercial vehicles.
He told commuters that if they come across a vehicle carrying three passengers at the back, including a woman, with two people in the front, they should refrain from entering such vehicles, as they often signify the notorious “One Chance” robberies.
To identify potential risks, the Commissioner highlighted certain characteristics of these vehicles. He said that “One Chance” operators often use defective plate numbers that are challenging to read.
He added that the doors of these vehicles can only be opened from the inside, not outside, serving as a red flag for potential victims.
Igweh pointed out that many of these vehicles employ rubber tint on their windows during operations, which is later removed. These distinctive features serve as key indicators for individuals to remain cautious and avoid falling victim to such crimes.
In Igweh’s words: “If you see any vehicle with 3 people at the back, including a woman and 2 people in front, don’t enter because it is only one chance that is remaining and you are the one chance that is remaining”.
