Hunters in Adamawa State have intercepted and turned back a trailer-load of 107 migrants Fulani families who were relocating to Toungo Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The families comprised 5 men, 32 women and 70 children who were intercepted in the early hours of Monday.
The 5 men identified themselves as heads of families and said they were migrating fro Doma in Nasarawa State to Toungo to settle.
According to them, they sought and got the permission of the district head os Toungo, Alhaji Hammangabdo.
A source told newsmen that the head of Toungo district had sent letters to security agencies to clear the migrant families.
Secretary to Ganye Local Government Council, Brendan Jelani added that the foreigners were stopped on their way to Toungo.
After holding them temporarily at a primary schooling Ganye, they were escorted out of the area to return to where they are from.
He noted that the decision was taken after due consultation between the two local government areas, the Department of State Services (DSS) AND THE Gwangwari Ganye, Alhaji Umar Sanda who is the paramount ruler of Ganye chiefdom comprising Ganye,Toungo and Jada areas.
Jelani is also reported as saying that with the present security situation in the country, movement of large number of people could created panic more so if former security clearance is not not granted.
