‘I Choose to Defend My Truth in Court, Not on Social Media’ – Mohbad’s Widow

News - Women's Perspective

The widow of the late Nigerian singer, Mohbad’s wife, has released a statement aimed at defending her husband’s image and address the ongoing controversy surrounding his d3ath.

In an emotional post shared on social media, Wunmi expressed her deep gratitude to those who have stood by her during what she describes as a “difficult time, filled with false accusations from various quarters, including family, friends, and strangers.”

Wunmi stated that she has chosen to accept the emotional pain she is enduring as part of her journey.

She emphasized that she will not engage in public debates or attempt to counter the lies being spread about her on social media. Instead, she has decided to focus on defending her truth in the court of law.

However, Wunmi made it clear that she must speak up on behalf of her late husband, Ilerioluwa, popularly known as Mohbad, who is no longer here to defend himself. She implored every true supporter of Mohbad and every friend of hers and their child, Liam, to refrain from speaking ill of her husband.

“I beg you, with all that you hold dear, not to tarnish his memory. Disrespecting Ilerioluwa in his death is showing disdain for his entire family. Anyone who truly loved him would never speak badly of him,” Wunmi stated.

She also made it clear that she does not endorse or condone any negative remarks made about Ilerioluwa, insisting that her husband was, and always will be, known as a good man. Wunmi urged the public to remember Mohbad as such and to honour his memory by refraining from defaming his character.

In closing, Wunmi thanked her supporters for their continued support during this challenging time.
