Mrs Rita Ndifon, wife of the embattled former Dean of Law Department at the University of Calabar (UNICAL) who was remanded in a correctional centre over s*xual assault allegations, Cyril Ndifon, has said that she is not ashamed to be called his wife.
Rita, who has just been confirmed a Professor by the same University, spoke yesterday during an appreciation service, where she dedicated her success and confirmation as a Prof to her beloved husband.
The new Professor of Education expressed joy that through trials and turbulents, she never allowed any challenges to stop her hard work, saying her love for her husband even after 28 years, remains intact despite allegations of s*xual harassment of female Law students.
“If you love your husband, stand firm, challenges will come, it was a coincidence that we happened to celebrate our 28th marriage anniversary.
“I feel so happy and fulfilled because this is what I have always wanted and God has helped me to achieve it.
“My promotion to Professorship was just recently announced amid the challenges my family is facing.
“What it takes to be a professor is not lobbying. I didn’t take any shortcuts. It was only God.
“I have never allowed any challenge to weigh me down. If I had allowed the challenges that confronted us, I wouldn’t be here celebrating.”
Former Vice Chairman of Ikom LGA in the State, Mrs. Alice Eromabo described Professor Rita Ndifon as a woman whose lifestyle is worthy of emulation.
