The father of one of the victims of the airplane that claimed the lives of 11 military officers says he prayed for his son Mathew Oyedepo the day before he died.
Mr Jacob Oyedepo said the incident will not discourage him from allowing Matthew’s siblings from joining the military.
Matthew died in the ill-fated beachcraft 350 that crashed on the 21st of May killing the former Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru among others.
In a discussion with newsmen, Mr Jacob said that the deceased was his last child and added that he had 5 other siblings that were unemployed.
He added that he spoke with his son the day before the incident and prayed for him but had no inkling that danger was looming during their conversation.
According to him, “I spoke to my son on Thursday that preceded the day he died. I prayed for him. I did not see or have any sign that he was going to die. I just prayed for him. His death has left a permanent vacuum. I will never forget him. He was the one taking care of me. His brothers are unemployed. He was also taking care of them.
“I plead with the government to help in providing jobs for the siblings of the deceased that are unemployed. Matthew is my last child and I have 6 children. Even with his death, I will not discourage any of my children who is willing to join the military. I will allow them to follow their hearts.”
