‘I Told Tinubu I’m Not Interested in Oil Pipeline’ – Asari Dokubo (video)

Former Niger Delta militant leader and friend of President Bola Tinubu, Asari Dokubo, on Tuesday claimed that President Bola Tinubu asked him if he was interested in the pipelines contract but told him he was not.

He made the disclosure during an interview with Arise TV on Tuesday morning.

According to him, he is not interested in any personal gain despite the huge amount of money spent in campaigning for Tinubu in the build-up to the 2023 presidential election.

Speaking against the background of his opposition to the scrapping of the Ministry of Niger Delta, Dokubo said his only interest is ensuring the success of the Tinubu administration.

According to him, “I met President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, both in camera and behind camera, and he asked me, ‘Are you interested in the pipeline?’ I told him I’m not interested in the pipeline contract; he’s alive. I told him I’m not interested, but I can assist those who are doing the pipeline contract in any way I can for your government to succeed.

I never said that it was personal gain I was looking for. I clearly said in all my broadcast that my needs are very small.”

Dokubo’s stand comes after a video surfaced online last week, where he accused President Tinubu of betrayal and vowed that he would align with the North rather than the South-West region in future elections.
