In a heartbreaking interview with newsmen, the Assistant Director of Pharmacy at the National Industrial Court shared his grief over the tragic d3ath of his 2-year-old daughter.
On January 15, a call from his wife turned their once-happy life into a nightmare.
He recounted how he rushed to Lagos, taking the last flight available, only to face the unimaginable. “We drove to the place, and I saw the lifeless body of my daughter,” he said, his voice heavy with emotion.
According to him, the tragedy happened at his daughter’s school. The school’s proprietor claimed that a teacher locked the girl in her classroom, but she somehow ended up drowning in the school’s swimming pool.
The details of the incident are confusing. A nanny reportedly took the girl to clean her up but said the child returned to class on her own, locking the door behind her. The teacher said she hadn’t seen the girl since then and only heard about the drowning later.
Adding to the family’s pain, the school’s CCTV cameras covering the swimming pool and playground were not working, leaving the events leading to the drowning unclear.
“We prayed for years before we had her,” the father said, describing his daughter as a happy, beautiful, and intelligent child. “I want them to tell me the truth about what killed my daughter.”
He expressed hope that the police and judiciary would uncover the truth and bring justice for his little girl, whose life was tragically cut short.
