‘I Waited for My Three Children to Return Home But They Never Did’ – Grieving Mother Recounts the Unimaginable

Parenting Stories from the heart

Madam Chikazor Ogochukwu Ejezie faced an unimaginable tragedy when she returned home to find her three children dead in Nnewi, Anambra State.

The grieving mother had left them at home to take an exam in the Ihiala area, expecting to return to their warm embrace. Instead, her worst nightmare unfolded as she discovered their lifeless bodies inside a freezer. The devastating loss has left her and her family in deep grief, searching for answers.

The children, a three-year-old boy and two girls aged seven and nine, were nowhere to be found when she arrived home. Initially, she assumed they were out playing and waited for them to return. However, as evening approached and they remained missing, fear set in. Desperate, she reached out to neighbors and family friends, hoping someone had seen them, but no one could provide information on their whereabouts.

“I reached out to my husband’s friend’s wife, whose children usually go to church with mine, but she said her own kids didn’t attend catechism that day. I asked her whether my children were at her house, and she said no,” she stated.

A neighbor later recalled seeing two unidentified young men entering the compound earlier that day. He also mentioned that one of the girls had briefly stepped out to buy something before returning home. The information added to the growing mystery surrounding the disappearance, leading to frantic searches across the area. Despite exhaustive efforts, the children were not found until their bodies were shockingly discovered inside a freezer in their home.

Samuel Ejezie, the children’s father, shared his heartbreak over the tragic loss. He explained that his wife had gone for an exam at Our Lady of Lourdes in Ihiala and returned around noon to an unsettling silence. Usually, their children would run out to greet her, but that day, the house was eerily quiet. The sight of their shoes scattered around and the open doors deepened their distress, signaling that something was terribly wrong.

The family’s residence had only a few occupants at the time of the incident, making the circumstances even more puzzling. Apart from the Ejezie family, only the landlord’s elderly mother and some nursing students lived in the compound. However, the landlord’s mother was not home, and the nursing students were not suspected of any wrongdoing, leaving the case without immediate leads.

Authorities are expected to investigate thoroughly to uncover the truth behind the mysterious deaths. Meanwhile, the grieving parents are left to endure an unimaginable loss, hoping for justice and closure in the midst of their sorrow.
