Celebrity car dealer, Ikechukwu Darrius Ogbonna is alleged to have told investigative officers that he was never married to Bimbo Martins but only cohabitated throughout their 22-year relationship.
He said however, they had 5 children between them during the time they lived together as lovers.
IVD added that the status of their union should be factored in when issues of ownership of property and child custody are being discussed.
Abimbola is alleged to have set herself on fire during a heated argument with IVD on Wednesday, 12th of October 2022 in their Ajah/Lekki area home.
Bimbo was also said to have vowed to kill the 2 youngest of their 5 kids as the older 3 were in boarding schools.
The 2 children were however, rescued the day she set herself on fire while she was rushed to the hospital where she died 72 hours later on October 15th 2022.
It is said that a spouse may have no claim to the property of her partner if they were not legally married.
While narrating the events leading up to their very last fight, IVD stated that Bimbo got a welder to break open the safe where he kept the documents to their house as well as those of the vehicles in his shop.
Reports add that the couple’s houseboy, Joshua who witnessed the last fight between Bimbo and IVD and also got the welder to break the safe, is no where to be found since Bimbo’s tragic death.
