A popular Ghanaian-American singer, Amaarae has recounted her tortuous journey to fame and stardom.
Speaking during a recent interview with 3FM 92.7, Accra, Ghana, she narrated how a show promoter once offered to pay her in the form of airtime to perform at his event.
Going down memory lane, Amaarae, the ‘Sad Girlz Luv Money’ crooner recalled how a platform offered her GH₵100 recharge card to perform at their event.
Amaarae said, “When I first started, people weren’t even trying to pay me at all. I actually remember; I’m not going to shame the platform but a platform that offered me credit, MTN credit to perform at their show.”
She said that notwithstanding, years later, after she became famous the same platform paid her a huge amount of money to do a song for them.
Amaarae disclosed during the interview that she recently made two unreleased songs with Nigerian singer, Ruger.
She said she loves to collaborate because it allows her to showcase her diversity.
