Aisha Yesufu Compares Portable to Tinubu's Invite to NBA

If Government Arrests Me, I will Continue in Prison – Aisha Yesufu

News - Women's Perspective

Aisha Yesufu says that if the government arrests her for standing up for what she believes in, she will continue in prison.

The #EndSARS activist and convener of the Bring Back Our Girls movement maintains that she is not interested in compromising on what she believes in.

Reacting to requests by James C .@JamesLantern2 for her to clarify her position on being homophobic and an anti-gay rights activist, Aisha said that her religion forbids gay practices.

According to James, “What exactly does she mean ? What’s her message here ? Does this mean you stopped being homophobic or you just affirming your stance on homophobia , which one ?

James added that “A Nigeria of our dreams should include every Nigerian no matter their ethnicity, Religion or sexuality. In @AishaYesufu words “ No Nigerian is more Nigerian than any Nigerian “ . I would expect her as an activist who stands for human rights to know gay rights is inclusive.”

Yesufu responded that people who indulge in homosexuality do not need her permission to do so.

According to her, she does not care if there is a sponsored propaganda against her in the media.

Responding in a series of tweets, Aisha Yesufu added that gay practices did not start in her time and would certainly not end in her time too.

She would nonetheless remain true to what she is and believes in rather than defending or castigating anyone for their sexuality. In her words:

“A journalist asked me to defend myself against allegations that I was a gay rights activist & I said me, Aisha Yesufu defend myself before anyone? If I am gay I would not need anyone’s permission to live my life and if Nigerian govt arrest me I will continue in prison. Nonsense!”

“The way you have no business with my sexuality is the way I have no business with your sexuality. I grew up seeing same sex marriage & at 46 it is non of my freaking business what you get up to! My religion forbids it on me & not on you. You have your religion I have my religion”

In another development, Yesufu added that an Islamic channel also accused her of being a gay rights activist but that she really does not care.

“You think I care that they have a 10 minute video production by some unknown Islamic channel saying I am gay rights activist sponsored by west? It is their personal business. Gay people and others have equally called me homophobic, it is their personal business also. I am me”

Curiously Aisha Yesufu said she escaped assassination yesterday evening by armed men of the Nigerian Army who “gave her a hot pursuit even after shooting 3 bullets at me.”
