The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe has called the attention of the public to the fact that if during sexual intercourse, a partner withdraws consent, it becomes rape on the other to continue.
Spokesperson of the Delta state police command, DSP Bright Edafe said this when he took to Twitter on Tuesday to enlighten Nigerians about what constitutes rape during sex.
He noted if a party refuses to stop and continues with the intercourse, it can be termed rape and attracts life imprisonment.
According to him, ignorance of this law is not tenable in court and anyone found guilty will be prosecuted accordingly.
“Do you know during sex, once any party withdraws consent, you have to stop. further penetration amounts to rape and the person can be sentenced to life imprisonment if found guilty…… ignorance of law is no excuse”
