IGP Orders Investigation into Shooting by Burna Boy’s Armed Escorts

The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has ordered an investigation into an alleged shooting incident involving some escorts of singer, Burna Boy

The Lagos state Commissioner of Police, CSP Abiodun Alabi, gas been tasked to lead the investigation.

The Grammy Award-winning singer is said to have visited Cubana night club in Lagos with five of his armed escorts.

While four of positioned themselves outside the club, the 5th identified as Inspector Ibrahim is said to have escorted Burna Boy inside the club.

Punch reports that trouble started when the singer allegedly made passes at a married woman. Her husband got infuriated, an argument ensued and shots were fired injuring two persons.

A statement released today June 12, by CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, spokesperson of the state police command, on the incident, says the police boss has condemned the incident and ordered a full-scale investigation.

The statement:

”Police personnel alleged and identified in the shooting incident at Club Cubana in Victoria Island, Lagos on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, have been taken into custody and  are being investigated for their involvement in the incident.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba NPM, psc(+), fdc, who describes the circumstances surrounding the incident as unbelievable, has however condemned,  in the strongest terms,  the unfortunate incident.

The IGP has also directed the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Abiodun Alabi, to carry out a thorough investigation into the shooting and forward his report as soon as possible for further action.”
