The closure of the Ikoyi and Lekki Toll gates by #Endsars protesters, have cost Lagos State at least N234 million in targeted daily revenue.
The lost amount was obtained from estimated daily targets by the State government who owns both gates that are managed by the Lekki Concession Company (LCC).
A State Commissioner who spoke on conditions of anonymity said that the Lekki – Ikoyi link bridge daily toll target is N10 million while the Admiralty Circle Plaza located along the Lekki – Epe Expressway has a daily target of N16.6 million.
The Commissioner added that the Lekki – Ikoyi link bridge has a monthly target of at least N300 million while the Admiralty Circle has N500 million.
According to him, “At least 80,000 cars use the tollgates everyday. The figure could be higher or lower depending on the day of the week.
“However, since the protests started, the Lekki toll gate has been completely shut while the Ikoyi one has been left permanently open for people to use without payment.”
Sport Utility vehicles pay N250 per trip at the Admiralty Toll Plaza. Salon cars pay N200. SUVs, light trucks and mini vans at the Ikoyi link bridge pay N400.
According to LCC, heavy duty trucks and buses pay N1,000 at the Admiralty Circle Plaza.
However, adverts have continue to air at the gate billboards, generating revenue for the state.
