The collation of results in the Bayelsa State Governorship election has been adjourned to 3:00p.m.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had announced on Saturday, that the collation of results for the Bayelsa State governorship election will commence at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.

Announcing the postponement while speaking at the state collation centre in Yenogoa, the state’s Returning Officer, Faruk Kuta, explained that the decision was taken to allow the commission to receive more results from the local government areas.

The adjournment comes amidst protests by members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

Some commissioners and members of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly reportedly stormed the INEC office in Yenagoa, insisting that elections did not take place at Bassambiri, Nembe.

Speculations making the rounds are that there are irregularities in the Nembe-Bassambiri area of the state.
