The Senator representing Borno South, Senator Ali Ndume has revealed that he has never seen a Nigerian soldier holding a new AK47 but bandits brandish them with reckless abandon.
He stated that identifying terror financiers is important but it is not the only issue that needs to be addressed.
Ndume regretted that the Nigerian Army is overwhelmed by by bandits terrorizing people across the country.
He suggested that the government should focus on improving the military’s equipment and resources, rather than relying on foreign forces.
He said, “If they actually identify terror financiers and those behind these things. The Nigerian government is supposed to have revealed those doing that. But don’t go away from the main problem now.
“The main problem is that bandits are everywhere terrorizing people, k!lling people. The Nigerian army is even being k!lled and they are being overwhelmed operating in 35 states.
“Up to now, I have not gone to the field and seen a Nigerian soldier holding a new AK47 but you can see the bandits branding out new AK49.”
