The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a new date for the commencement of the 2020/2021 post UTME screening.
Prof Ishaq Oloyede, JAMB Registrar made the announcement today, Monday, 10th of August. According to him, the post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) screening will begin on the 7th of September.
He gave the update after the meeting of JAMB and heads of all tertiary institutions in the country.
Oloyede explained that the new date aims to accommodate students who have not been able to write their final examinations such as WAEC etc as a result of the COVID19 pandemic.
The delay in the screening will enable candidates of the West African Examinations Council, National Examination Council, Business and Technical Examination Board obtain the requisite certificates for admission into tertiary institutions.
According to him: “The view of JAMB is that while we go on consulting at a point when it becomes necessary for decision, we should all come together and take a joint decision.
“Presently, as you are aware, WAEC starts the Senior School Certificate Examination on the 17th of August, it will go on till the 7th of September.
Similarly, on the 21st of September or thereabout, NABTEB will commence its own examination that will go on till the 15th of October. Immediately after that, NECO starts on the 5th until the 18th of November.
The JAMB Registrar added that “for those (institutions) who want to take post-UTME, that cannot be earlier than the 7th of September and it will be held twice: form the 7th of September to the 4th of October.
A mop up exercise will take place on the 18th of November to capture those who are taking their school certificate examination.”
