JAMB exam malpractice incidences have been published. Also released are the names of candidates that were involved in the incidences in the March 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The list comprises candidates who:
- Did Exams by proxy
- Smuggled mobile phones into exam halls
- Connivance to cheat
- Attempt to cheat
- Smuggled electronic device into the hall
- Displayed unruly behaviour
- Did double registration
Out of a total of 1,945,983 candidates, 195 were caught cheating across the country.
Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (@JAMBHQ) Public Relations Officer, Dr Fabian Benjamin said that in as much as JAMB exam malpractices declined this year, Imo State where 27 candidates were apprehended, leads the pack in states with incidences.
Next in the list of states with highest malpractices is Anambra with 16 culprits followed by Enugu, Kano, Kaduna with 15 candidates each.
Lagos had 9 candidates while the FCT reported 3.
Dr Fabian Benjamin said that “Some of them (candidates) have been arraigned and others are waiting to be arraigned after the covid19 lockdown.”
Nonetheless, there were states with near zero incidences. They include Yobe, Sokoto, Adamawa, Gombe which recorded 1 candidate each.
States with zero cases: Bayelsa, Zamfara, Taraba, Kebbi, Niger.
