A journalist and spokesperson for the APC Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, Bayo Onanuga has urged the president of the United States of America, Joe Biden, to ignore the letter by renowned Nigerian-born international writer, Chimamanda Adichie regarding the 2023 presidential election.
Onanuga’s reaction, which is contained in a post via his Twitter handle on Friday, comes on the heels of a letter by Chimamanda to Biden urging him not to congratulate Nigeria’s president-elect, Bola Tinubu.
The writer alleged in her letter that the election was marred by irregularities and the failure of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to follow its stipulated guidelines for the presidential election.
She noted that it would “tarnish America’s self-proclaimed commitment to democracy and give the sheen of legitimacy to an illegitimate process”, if Biden recognizes Tinubu’s presidency.
In his reaction, Onanuga said Adichie’s letter, which he described as fiction, was inspired by the monumental loss of her tribesman Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP.
He wrote, “Dear President Joe Biden, please just trash the open letter by Chimamanda on Nigeria’s election once it gets to your desk. She wrote fiction, inspired by the monumental loss of her tribesman Peter Obi.”
Another staunch supporter of Bola Tinubu, CBN Gov Akinsola Akin tweeted: “That Stup1d PitObi girl Chimamanda Adichie @ChimamandaReal, during election she said SHE SUPPORTED PETER OBI BECAUSE HES FROM HIS PLACE She once rejected an honorary award from Buhari, stating that she is not interested in anything that has to do with the Nigerian government and affairs. Today she’s writing to US President to do what exactly?? Dear @POTUS @JoeBiden, she is like a Republican member asking the US Electoral Colleague @ElectoralCollge to disqualify your Election because you are not TRUMP. The Nigerian people voted @officialABAT“
