The Akwa Ibom State Branch of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has instructed journalists to shun Fani-Kayode’s 3rd press conference
This is in view of his assault on its members in Calabar and Zamfara.
Eyo Charles, a reporter for Daily Trust had asked the former Aviation Minister who was bankrolling his state tour of government projects.
The Minister descended on him in an uncontrolled verbal outburst claiming that he was a front for his political enemies who were out to embarrass him.
The development caused widespread condemnation form the body of journalists and media officials who demanded that he retract the invectives and apologise.
The Minister, thereafter, retracted his outburst via his twitter handle saying he was withdrawing the word “stupid.”
On a previous state trip to Zamfara, another reporter asked a question that once again drew the ire of the former Minister.
He also told the reporter that his question was “stupid and very insulting…if I had known that this is what you wanted to ask me, I would have asked you not to ask me that kind of stupid question.”
The Zamfara reporter made attempts to clarify his question but an obviously angry Fani Kayode prevented him from doing so.
In protest, the Akwa Ibom State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has directed its members to shun the press conference organised for Friday by the former Minister.
