The Federal Government of Nigeria is set to commence cash payments to 200000 Nigerians.
The revelation was made on Monday in Abuja by the Coordinator, National Social Safety Net Programme, Iorwa Apera.
He said in a statement that the beneficiaries are urban poor senior citizens who do not have access to regular income and are impacted by Covid19.
Apera added that the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management has authenticated the identities of citizens by their respective communities.
He also noted that 4% of 35 million poor and vulnerable persons in the national register in 36 states and the FCT were elderly citizens.
Two million individuals, categorised as senior citizens were aggregated by location, education, age, status, disability and sex.
