The terrorists that attacked the Abuja-Kaduna bound train have released the remaining 23 captives this afternoon.
The victims were kept in captivity after the dreaded terrorist attack on the train on March 28, 2022 when scores were killed and many more abducted.
The assailants released some of the victims earlier, while they kept others in their den, making unfriendly demands from the federal government as the rest of the victims could not afford the N100 million ransom placed on each of them.
However, in a statement by the Secretary of the Chief of Defence Staff Action Committee, Usman Yusuf, the hostages were released at about 4 pm on Wednesday.
The development came six months after they were abducted and more than a month after Tukur Mamu, a former negotiator with the captors was arrested.
Yusuf confirmed that the committee has taken custody of the released victims.
