The Labour Party governorship candidate in Abia State, Alex Otti has been declared winner of the March 18 election.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Alex polled 175,467 votes to defeat Okey Ahiwe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 88,529 votes.
The moment the announcement was made, jubilation broke out from every section of the state.
Alex Otti is now the 4th democratically elected of the State and the first candidate to be governor from a political party other than the PDP since 1999.
