Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote has lost his brother, Sani who is said to have died in the US after a protracted illness.
The Dangote group confirmed in a statement on Sunday night that Sani died on Sunday, 14th of November, 2021.
Before his death, Sani was the Vice President of Dangote Group, and had interests in many notable companies across the country.
The statement:
“INNA LILLAHI WA INNA ILAIHI RAJIUN ! It is with a heavy heath but with total submission to the Almighty Allah that we announce the passing of our Group Vice President, Alhaji Sani Dangote, today, 14th November, 2021.
“May Allah SWT grant him mercy and admit him in Aljannat-al-Firdaus !”
Sani had investments in the manufacturing, agriculture, banking and oil services before his death.
He also sat on the board of several companies including Nigerian Textile Mills Plc, Nutra Sweet Limited, Gum Arabic Ltd, Dangote Textile Mills Ltd, Alsan Insurance Brokers, Dan-Hydro Company Ltd, Dansa Food Processing Company Ltd and Dangote Farms.
Late Sani Dangote was a member of several Chambers of Commerce, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Shipping of Nigeria and President of the Fertiliser Producers and Suppliers Association.
A 2-time president of Lagos Polo Club, he was also the Deputy Chairman of the African Gum Arabic Producers Association.
Sani was renowned for his role as Chairman of Dansa Holdings, a a beverage manufacturing company and subsidiary of the Dangote Group
He also owned Dansa Foods Limited, Dansa Energy, Sagas Energy Limited, Bulk Pack Services Limited, Dansa Agro Allied Limited, and Dangote Farms Limited.
