Nigeria’s Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has finally taken a decision on his 2023 presidential ambition.
He resigned his appointment to concentrate on his 2023 presidential ambition.
The former Governor of Rivers State tendered his resignation letter today in obedience to President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive to cabinet members with political ambitions.
Last week Wednesday, at the end of the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja, the president directed members of his cabinet seeking elective offices to declare vacant their various positions on or before Monday, May 16, 2022.
Amaechi who has since declared interest to run for President in 2023, announced today that he no longer serves as the country’s minister under Buhari.
“Amaechi has finally resigned from office,” an insider source told SaharaReporters.
Amaechi acted differently from the Labour Minister, Chris Ngige and Justice Minister, Abubakar Malami. Both Ministers said they were no longer interested in contesting any political office in 2023 and preferred to hold on to their ministerial appointments.
Malami who currently serves as the Attorney-General of Federation (AGF), had in April declared interest in the Kebbi State governorship race.
Last week however, the AGF pulled out of the Kebbi State governorship race.
