A top politician and a former Commissioner for Higher Education in Delta State, Joan Mrapkpor, popularly known as ‘Ada Anioma’, has been abducted by unknown persons.
A former member of the Federal House of Representatives, Mrapkpor was abducted inside her church during church service.
The Incident is said to have occurred right inside the church, located off Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS) in Asaba, Delta State capital city.
An eyewitness said: “there was commotion right inside her church close to police headquarters, DBS Road.
“We all ran due to the heavy gun shooting. It just happened about a few minutes ago, one aide shot dead and a security personnel unconscious now.”
The Delta State Police Command’s spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, has confirmed the abduction and casualty involved.
Speaking on the incident, the Police Spokesman said the command lost one of its officers in the attack.
SP Edafe added that the Police Command was on the trail of the abductors and would give more details of the incident in due course.

This despicable act has galvanized the Anioma Media Team to issue a heartfelt appeal to all Deltans, particularly the good people of Anioma, to join in fervent prayer for her swift and safe release, as well as for the repose of the souls of the two fallen heroes.
As the news of her abduction and the policemen’s tragic deaths spread like wildfire, a sense of collective despair and anguish enveloped the Anioma community, who have come to regard Hon. Mrapkpor as a champion of their aspirations and a steadfast advocate for their welfare. Her unwavering dedication to the empowerment of her constituents and her unshakeable commitment to the development of Delta State have earned her a special place in the hearts of the people.
We also remember the two brave policemen who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, and we pray for their souls to rest in peace. May their bravery and selflessness never be forgotten, and may their memories continue to inspire us to work towards a safer and more just society.
In this hour of darkness, the Anioma Media Team entreats all Deltans to unite in prayer, beseeching the Almighty to intervene in this distressing situation and secure the safe release of Hon. Mrapkpor, as well as to grant eternal rest to the souls of the two fallen policemen. We implore the kidnappers to recognize the inherent humanity in their victim and to treat her with the dignity and respect she deserves.

Mrapkpor’s liberation and the repose of the souls of the two brave policemen, we also urge the security agencies to intensify their efforts in ensuring her prompt release and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
