Ahmed Joda, the elder statesman who also headed the 2015 Transition Committee of President Muhammadu Buhari, Ahmed Joda is dead.
His death was confirmed by family members and friends on Friday, 13th August, 2021.
He was a retired Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Industries. He rose to become one of the Super Permanent Secretaries under the military government of Rtd Gen Yakubu Gowon in the 1970s.
An astute administrator, he served as chairman and board member of various companies including the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Nigerian Communications Commission, Pastoral Resolve, Chagoury Group,and the Flour Mills of Nigeria.
He was also a member of the 1988 Constituent Assembly which planned the constitutional transition of Nigeria’s 3rd republic.
He was appointed in the committee to advise Olusegun Obasanjo’s Presidency on Poverty Alleviation in 1999 and 2015.
His final major appointment was as head of the Muhammadu Buhari Presidential Transition.
Ahmed Joda was born in Yola to a Fulani family in 1930, his great-great grandfather was Modibbo Raji, a 19th-century Islamic scholar and contemporary of Sheikh Usman Dan Fodio.
