News just coming in says that a Covenant University lecturer has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for defiling a 17-year-old student of the university.
41-year-old Dr Stephen Ukenna of the Department of Business Administration is reported to have raped the female student.
He was nabbed after the parents of the teenage girl lodged a complaint at the Ota Area Command after their daughter told them on phone that she had been raped by the lecturer in his office.
They alleged that the victim told them she was invited by the lecturer who lied that a friend had a surprise birthday party for her.
The parents added that when the young lady arrived the lecturer’s office, he locked the door and forcefully defiled her on his office table.
The spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi told newsmen this evening that upon receiving the report, the Area Commander, ACP Muyideen Obe swiftly deployed his team to the school campus where the lecturer was immediately arrested.
“On interrogation, the suspect admitted having canal knowledge of the victim, but was unable to give any reason for his action,” the police spokesperson said.
Mr Obe said that the Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigations.
