The Federal Government has said the N25,000 salary increment earlier announced is now for all workers.
Earlier in the day, during the Independence Day speech, the president announced that the N25,000 was for low-grade workers.
He said that the gesture is meant to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.
The offer was rejected by the organized labour who demanded that the new wage apply to every and it must be on a permanent basis instead of the 6 months announced by the president.
However, in a new development on Sunday night, the president through his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila said the salary increment now cuts across all levels of workers.
This comes as the government makes frantic efforts to avoid the nationwide strike declared by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC)
