Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has suspended the General Manager (GM) of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), Gbolahan Oki.
The suspension follows the collapse of a 21-storey building in the high brow Ikoyi area of Lagos.
By the time the Deputy Governor visited this afternoon, 10 lifeless bodies had been removed while many are still trapped under the rubbles.
Many others are reported injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.
The Deputy Governor prayed for silence within the area so that voices of survivors still trapped under the rubbles could be heard.
He also asked anyone who has no business being in the area to leave so total silence can prevail.
