The Ijaw Youth Council members are currently staging a protest at the Dowen College gates in response to Lagos State government verdict on the death of late Sylvester Oromoni.
The leader of the protesters said the school cannot possibly reopen after a “corrupt verdict” was passed on the death of their son.
The group stated that a school that “recruits and trains cultists” cannot do business when one of their own was killed within its premises.
The yet-to-be identified spokesman insisted that if ever the school goes ahead to reopen as planned on Monday, the entire Ijaw nation will resume in the classrooms and hostels with their “school bags, feeding bottles and lunch bags.”
The Ijaw Youth leader stressed that they will not be deterred by security operatives stationing armoured tanks around the school premises because they will come prepared.
He stated their horror in seeing the speedy justice passed during the Christmas and New Year holidays when all workers were presumed on vacation.
He also lamented that the boys who killed their son cannot possibly return to school.
The Lagos State Government officials had reported that the autopsy result made available to them indicated that 12-year-old Sylvester Oromoni was not murdered.
5 students and 5 members of staff of the Dowen College were detained for questioning but later cleared and exonerated of all charges.
However, the decision did not sit well with the Ijaw Youths Council and to show their displeasure they have taken to Dowen college to stage a protest.
