News just received say that the Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly has been impeached.
Hon Chiji Collins was removed during plenary at the legislative chambers of the House in Owerri, the Imo State Capital.
The Speaker was impeached over allegations of financial impropriety, high-handedness, gross misconduct among other allegations.
Following his impeachment, Paul Emeziem from Onuimo Local Government Area ws sworn in as new speaker.
During the motion for Collin’s impeachment, 19 ut of 27 members of the House of Assembly supported the move.
