President Biden was on Thursday, reported to have tested positive for COVID-19.
He is said to be experiencing very mild symptoms, the White House announced.
Mr. Biden, is fully vaccinated and twice boosted with the Pfizer doses, but will be isolated in the White House’s residence.
He will however, participate in scheduled meetings at the White House through phone and Zoom, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement.
Joe Biden was scheduled to travel to Pennsylvania on Thursday to talk about his plan to combat violent crime.
However, Jean-Pierre said that, “Consistent with CDC guidelines, he will isolate at the White House and will continue to carry out all of his duties during the time.”
Joe Biden last tested negative for COVID on Tuesday.
Officials say that lifestyle and daily routines were about to return to normalcy in the U.S when new variants surfaced, raising concerns among the citizens and foreigners.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that Biden was experiencing “mild symptoms” and has begun taking Paxlovid, an antiviral drug designed to reduce the severity of the disease.
According to her, Mr Biden “will isolate at the White House and will continue to carry out all of his duties fully during that time. He has been in contact with members of the White House staff by phone this morning, and will participate in his planned meetings at the White House this morning via phone and Zoom from the residence.”
