A group of mothers and other women in Lagos, today, staged a peaceful protest in front of the Ikoyi residence of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Femi Hamzat.
The aggrieved women insisted that there will be no Walk for Peace so long as there is no justice for the youths killed in October 2020 by men in military uniform at the Lekki Toll Gate.
They demanded to know who killed the innocent unarmed youths who only wanted a better country and a better life.
The mothers stated that they are not cowards and will ensure that the ‘Walk’ does not take place.
Led by a lady identified as Toun, the mothers chanted defiant songs while addressed the governor.
In her words, “Babajide Sanwo-Olu o ! Babajide Sanwo-Olu ! You’re call for the ‘Walk for Peace,’ There shall be no walk for peace until justice prevails for every child that was massacred during the #EndSARS protest. We want Accountability.
“You’ve been mandated. You must do it for peace to reign.
“We are mothers. We are mourning. There is no peace in the land. If you do not seek justice for our children, no peace shall be in Lagos state. You have turned our morning into night, our joy into sorrow. If other women are cowards, we are not cowards.”
The mothers chanted that “there shall be no peace walk ! No peace walk until justice is served everyone that was affected in the Lekki Toll Gate massacre.
“You killed our children. You killed them. Who gave you the order to kill innocent protesters who are looking for a peaceful Lagos ?
“Who gave you the order to kill innocent protesters who want a better Nigeria ?”
