Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State led by Hon Victor Ofobrukueta has lost a councillor who is alleged to have been killed by Fulani herdsmen.
Reports say that Hon Ochuko Jude Adjekpovu was shot a week ago by the gunmen along Eku-Abraka Road in Ethiope-East LGA on his way back from a function.
Information gathered from his local Government Area said that the lawmaker died this Thursday morning in a private hospital where he had been receiving treatment since the 4th of December when he ran into the gunmen.
The source said, “He died this (Thursday) morning after battling for his life for over a week.“
Adjekpovu was shot in the stomach after the gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen blocked the road around 5:30pm.
They are said to have fired several bullets at his car with at least one hitting his stomach.
Adjekpovu represented Ward Ward 17-Ovu-Inland in the Local Government Area before his untimely demise.
The local government council has since been thrown into mourning when the news broke.
However, SaharaReporters said that when they called the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Delta State, DSP Bright Edafe, he said that he did “not have any information like that.”
The Council has been thrown into a state of mourning since the news filtered into the area in the early hours of today.
