A police officer has been killed by an angry mob of Okada riders this Wednesday afternoon.
The incident occurred at Cele Bus Stop along Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, Lagos during a duel with commercial motorcycles popularly known as Okada riders.
According to The Nation, the irate Okada riders also carted away three rifles taken from police operatives.
Shortly after the officer was murdered, the Okada riders, numbering about 100, ran towards Mile 2 end of the expressway.
The Nation added that they were brandishing cutlasses, daggers, big sticks and other weapons, charging at passersby and motorists.
Many took to their heels to avoid being attacked by the weapon-wielding motorcyclists.
A convoy of policemen was soon drafted towards them, apparently reinforced to combat the commercial motorcycle riders.
The officers, in about six vehicles, chased the Okada riders towards the Mile 2 end.
