Nigeria’s power grid has collapsed again, making it the 4th time it would happen across the nation.
Reports say the country is currently generating only 0.80 megawatts of electricity.
According to the website of the Independent System Operator, which is an autonomous arm of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), it was observed that the power plants’ contribution to the grid started to decrease around 2:00pm, dropping to 2,797.16MW from the average of 3,417.99MW around 1pm.
The electricity contribution further declined to 1,020.08 around 3pm before dramatically falling to 0.80 by 4pm.
Naija News reports that the Trans-Amadi Power Plant generated 0.80. This marks the fourth power grid collapse in 2024.
