President Muhammadu Buhari met with former President Goodluck Jonathan behind closed doors in the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.
The 2 leaders had their meeting after the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting at the State House.
Sources say that Jonathan arrived at about 4:00pm but declined speaking with journalists after the meeting.
The presidency has also not disclosed the purpose of the meeting.
Nevertheless, there have been speculations that the former president is planning to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
There are also indications that Jonathan is planning to contest the 2023 presidential elections.
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has advised him to jettison the idea as it is a ploy by the APC to discredit him and mess up his hard-earned reputation.
While fielding questions with BBC Pidgin English, Wike said that , “I will tell him no to go anywhere. These people don’t like you.
“You should know them very well that they don’t like you. What have they not said about you ? Have all the things they said about you changed ?
“APC are only intent on bringing in PDP people who has name, and destroy them so that they will not have anywhere to go again. That’s what APC is doing.
Wike stressed that he has nothing but respect for the former President saying that if he wants to contest for presidency, he go under PDP and not APC.
He noted if Jonathan decides to contest, he will support his ambition.
According to him, “I respect the former President. I know he is a man of integrity. If I have the chance to advise him, I’d tell him, ‘Sir, please don’t make that mistake. If you want to run for president, run under PDP. Nigerians cherish you more than this government. They have seen that all the things government told them are lies.’
