The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has banned travels from Nigeria and added the country to its red list following cases of Covid-19 Omicron variant reported in the West African country.
Daily Trust reports that several sources in the consulate of Saudi Arabia in Kano as well as officials at the Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) confirmed the development.
Since the kingdom lifted the ban on Nigerian flights, many people, especially travellers from Kano have visited the country for lesser Hajj while others are waiting to travel on their scheduled dates.
Sadly, the emergence of Omicron has disrupted those plans with no indication of when the travels will resume.
Saudi Arabia is the largest country in theĀ Middle East, and the second-largest country in theĀ Arab world.
