President Bola Tinubu has sought the approval of the Senate for a military intervention by Nigerian troops in Niger.
In the letter read at plenary by the Senate president, Godswill Akpabio, the president demanded a total blockade of the sea and air routes to the country following the recent military coup.
A military junta overthrew the democratically elected government of Bazoum in Niger Republic a few weeks ago.
It also seized assets of all political exposed and senior persons of the government of Niger in the country based on the ECOWAS resolution.
A number of individuals across international boundaries are however in support of the decision of the military junta to retrieve the country’s independence and sovereignty and free itself from neocolonialism.
A member of the European Parliament, Mick Wallace said that the “People of #Niger + #Africa are tired of being used + abused by the Neocolonialist – #EU + #US talk lots about Sovereignty + Human Rights so let’s see it in action. Foreign Intervention would be a disaster + using their puppet instrument ECOWAS for same would also be a disaster…
